Here at Vanderveer Park, we offer a variety of ministries that speak to the nature and fellowship of our church while affording everyone an opportunity to share and develop their gifts and talents.

ALTAR GUILD

The Altar Guild prepares the sanctuary for worship. This preparation includes but is not limited to; preparing and serving the Holy Eucharist, Altar design, and the overall aesthetic of the sanctuary.

EVANGELISM

UNITED women in faith

United Women in Faith is a supportive, inclusive Christian membership organization where women grow spiritually, develop as leaders and serve to work to create a world in which all women, children and youth thrive. Our members nurture one another in community and support U.S. and international projects and partners improving the lives of women children and youth with their prayers, volunteer and advocacy efforts, and financial gifts.

Any woman who commits herself to the PURPOSE of United Methodist Women and to engage in mission, study, personal growth and social action can join. You don't have to be United Methodist or meet an age requirement to be a member. We meet on the 2nd Sunday of the month in the gym after the 11:00 am service.

BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY

The Bereavement Ministry has team members who have been trained in providing an environment within the Church premises for grieving persons to heal their wounds and pain while caring and sharing with each other in group meetings.

GREETERS' MINISTRY

As Greeters, we warmly greet and welcome our visitors and members as they enter into the sanctuary for worship.  We strive to demonstrate the “Sweet, Sweet Spirit” of Vanderveer Park United Methodist Church in a tangible way.

multimedia ministry

The Multimedia Ministry serves an important role in the worship experience of our church.
Media ministry works behind the scenes to make it possible to share the message of the church with large groups of people through amplified sound, recordings, PowerPoint presentations, Web pages and other forms of communication.

reading is essential (RISE)

Reading Is Essential (RISE) prepares, motivates and assists with reading and literacy development.  Participants receive free books and literacy materials.  Join us every Sunday (ages 2+) from 10:30 A:M – 12:30 P:M.

Sunday School

The Sunday School meets every Sunday from 9:00 am - 10:00 am, September through June. We offer classes from nursery (potty trained) through 12th grade. Our vision is to build a biblical foundation in the lives of individuals that will transform families, friends and the community for the Kingdom of God.

usher ministry

The word usher is referred to in the Bible as a gatekeeper, doorkeeper or simply a keeper. The word is derived from ush, meaning “to enter into.”

Our Usher ministry allows us to maintain “decency and order” within the sanctuary. This ministry is vital in creating and maintaining a “safe space” for all who enter the sanctuary. This ministry exemplifies worship through service.

WELCOME TABLE

The Welcome Table Ministry was established for the purpose of serving well-balanced meals to all those who desire to eat.

We serve a growing community each month on site through our ongoing relationships with several family shelters. In addition, we serve residents of our local community who are either home bound or homeless.  Each year, we have experienced growth in both the areas of those who volunteer and those we serve.
